"Class 6 was fantastic, we all had a realization during the class that "wow, we are really learning something here." I really think learning about the climate differences made such an impact on our understanding of the wines. I went out to dinner this Saturday night to Ruths Chris and ordered a moderate climate Cabernet Sauvignon. I even impressed myself!!!"

Industry Professionals Weigh In
"I'm approached daily by people wondering how to get involved in the wine world. There isn't really [an educational] path that's clear and well marked, but somehow Kindra has forged her own path with Wine Sisters USA, and it's obviously leading somewhere. She's an inspiration." Master of Wine, Sandy Block
"Kindra Spector responds to the fragmenting demands shouldered by women today with [her] multifaceted curriculum. As personal preferences are explored and shared the inherent satisfactions found in paying attention to physical well being are often recalled [reminding us that] it's the little things in life that contribute to the quality of our inner worlds as well as our public selves. If you welcome the adventures of Wine Sisters into your life, it may well bring you much more than an appreciation of the differences between a Pommery 1996 and a Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin 1996."

WS Coordinator Carol M., (NY)
"We had our [second Sample Intro] class and I have to say it started out very poorly. I am feeling much better about it now but... only 4 people showed up and I was expecting 10. The four of us went on. We had a great time even though it was a small group... and we came up with a name--- Bella Luna Wine Sisters! The meaning behind it is that we are beautiful friends who gather at night during the moonlight hours to enjoy wine!"
Another new WSC, Christine C. (NY), contacted HQ after holding our online sample classes for friends:
"[Kindra,] thanks for getting in touch with us so quickly. We're really excited about the classes, thoroughly enjoyed the first two and are looking forward to continuing. All of us were amazed at the differences we were able to detect between the wines, particularly since none of us were aware of the distinctions before. We also love the fact that we are being introduced to some fabulous cheeses with which most of us were unfamiliar. We love that the classes are a wonderful excuse for us to get together, learn more about each other, laugh, share, and bond as a group, while at the same time, educate our palates!"
WSC Julie M. (MA)
"[Our first official] class went great...learned a lot and was especially neat how both Rieslings went well with spicy food. I had a spicy, kick your butt, chutney that we put on a piece of baguette and it was yummy!"
WSC Carolyn M. (MA)
"We continue to make progress, and are having a great time doing it!". In December Carolyn said "Our group of 7 has really enjoyed the classes so far; our biggest challenge is finding a meeting time that works for everyone, but we're committed to the program!"
Diane W., WSC (NY) offers this update:
"Class #8 [Level 1] was the best yet! We are in the groove and everything went very smoothly. Next one we are having a NYC chef cook for us based on the wines and for #10 we are treating ourselves to graduation at the Crabtree Kittlehouse (world reknown wine cellar, Chappaqua, NY)."
"It's amazing what 6 women will go through just to make sure they can attend their Wine Sisters gathering!"
“We had our first tasting last night and it went well! Everyone seemed to learn a lot and enjoy themselves. One of the aspects of the group that I enjoyed was being able to get together with other ladies and having something to talk about other than husbands and children. I really enjoy learning, so it was nice to get together with other women and learn something new in a fun environment.“
"It's a smashing success! Everyone loves it and is very enthusiastic. It's so much fun, and the exchanges around the table and ideas are great! For instance, I have a hard time discerning smells, but once someone says something, like 'cloves' or 'red cabbage', I can totally relate."
"Having everything spelled out for us in an organized agenda - from sideboard to salad and from wine to cheese and pate - takes the stress out of the preparation and makes it easy and fun."
"Great cheese, great food, great wine, great company - every time!"
"Each tasting is special and unique, and the education part comes so naturally. I'm still amazed that no one ever misses our tastings, when so much comes up in our busy lives."
"Pairing food with the wines accents the flavors and helps to identify and isolate them."
"Learning about wines with complementary foods in an informative way, not a patronizing way, makes for a great atmosphere!"
"I like the actual learning of new things, and this is great because it involves new people (new friends!) and new experiences."
Graduates Reflect
WS Coordinator Meg L. (NY) "Wine Sisters has been an enlightening and enriching experience for all six of us. We can't get enough of it. So much so that, now that we finished [Level 1] we've decided to continue on our own - and we're still loving it!"
WS Coordinator Heather C. (IL) In reflecting back on [Level 1] I would have to say that I was very surprised about wine. I went into it knowing what I liked (sweet whites and zin), and what I did not like (anything red). Not only did I learn why I like what I like (acidic, non oaked), but learned to like some reds (syrah = spicy). I definitely learned to like different kinds of cheese! The [classes] forced me to be open to different types of wines, and I have learned to like some of those wines. I have definitely learned to appreciate that wine goes best with food!
WS Gilda R. (NY) "I can't say enough about my experience with Wine Sisters - the bonding and learning alike. I was the only one who has ever missed an evening in 16 months (due to a personal injury). We all love it and it has formed a bond that is quite extraordinary. Kindra, you've done something exceptional and should be very proud."
WS Coordinator Laura D. (MA) "On behalf of [our Sisterhood] we want to thank you for a terrific year of learning about wines. We all agree that we never would have learned so much had it not been for WS USA. We have all gotten along so well we have decided to keep our group together and continue growing our cultural awareness. If it weren't for you this group would not be as bonded as we are."
WS Annise H. (MA) "Unknown waters turned into times of pride. All this we managed with you by our side - we could not have otherwise run this course. Your kindness and knowledge have bred success. Thank you for all that you've done."
